Team Introduction:
As a member of ByteDance's tax function, you will be part of an international team that spans the Americas, Europe, Asia and Oceania. You will have the opportunity to work closely with various stakeholders within our organisation, such as the Accounting, Finance and Legal teams.
The Country Tax Manager (Philippines) will be responsible for overseeing all Philippines tax matters for the company’s local entities, ensuring full compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations while supporting business operations with practical tax advice. This role will act as the key tax point of contact for Philippines-related direct and indirect tax matters, tax audits, tax risk management, and tax planning initiatives. Your main responsibilities include:
Tax Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure the accurate preparation, filing, and payment of all national and local taxes, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Expanded and Final Withholding Taxes, Documentary Stamp Tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Review and verify supporting documents, including the reconciliation of tax accounts.
Tax Audits & Risk Management
- Identify areas of tax exposure across corporate processes and recommend internal controls to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
- Assist in preparing defense strategies and reviewing audit-related documents.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual financial statement audits.
Tax Planning & Strategy
- Proactively identify legitimate tax-saving opportunities and tax efficiency improvements for the business.
- Monitor changes in Philippine tax legislation and assess their operational and financial impact on the company.
Tax Advisory
- Coordinate with external tax consultants as needed.
- Serve as the subject matter expert in advising cross-functional teams on the direct tax implications of specific transactions.

Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant tax experience gained from an accounting firm and/or multinational companies.
- In-depth knowledge of Philippines tax laws and regulations including experience in handling direct and indirect tax compliance in the Philippines.
- Experience handling tax audits, assessments, and controversy matters with the Bureau of Internal Revenue and local authorities.
- Meticulous with a strong attention to detail, and be committed to delivering high quality work.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a mindset that always looks to improve and find the best solutions even in the midst of the challenges of a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification preferred.
- Hands-on experience in dealing with the tax requirements of payment-related entities or businesses with payment flows, high-volume transactions, or regulated financial operations preferred.
